Character customization is an option available for all players. It comprises of roleplay names, character profiles/journals, clothing, body types provided by ROBLOX, hairstyles, skirts, heels, faces, wings, mermaid tails, and accessories.

Whenever the player goes into Dress Up mode, an animation will play which consists of the player holding up a hand-held mirror to their face, along with a symbol above their head which indicates that the player is changing. Near the crown and green check mark is the eye button and when it is clicked, it will hide other players while changing.

Free Customizations

Animations

Players are able to use most animation packages that can be found in the Roblox catalog, along with a few custom animation packs that are not found within the ROBLOX catalog. The Popstar, Ice Skater, Cowboy and Delicate Princess animation packages are the current custom animations that are available.

Crown

When the player first joined the game, they get a default crown of a random color. Every 2 levels, players were able to spin the Gem Wheel for a chance of a gem that consists of a different shape and color, which is used to decorate their crown. Every 10 levels, players were able to spin the Crown Wheel for a new crown. Originally players were able to buy crowns and gems for diamonds. The price for crowns was 3,750 diamonds and the price for gems was 1,750 diamonds.

The ability to gain new crowns has been removed, though the reason is currently unknown.

Hairstyles

Main article: Hairstyles

Hairstyles are custom hair options (and head coverings) that can be worn in Royale High as an alternative to Roblox hair options. Some come with their own unique hair accessories for certain styles. They can be colored with a selection of free options, or extended options that can be unlocked with a game pass.

Outfit

Players can choose from a selection of clothes chosen by kateka22 from the Roblox Catalog. At the top of the left side of the screen, players can sort clothes by either color, style, or season. Hovering over the clothes shows who created the outfit, and some of the clothes also show the name of the piece. If the player wants to purchase the clothes to wear outside of Royale High, they can click the "$" button at the bottom left corner which gives them the prompt to purchase with robux. During the July 6th, 2020 update, outfits were given the search option to help make it easier to find certain clothes by creator or clothing name. The clothing catalog is sorted between two genders, with sub categories underneath:

Princess:

  • Outfit
  • Swim
  • Sleep
  • Active

Prince:

  • Shirts
  • Pants

Name

Players can choose to have either a Roleplay Name or keep their Roblox username.

If the player owns the Paintbrush gamepass, which costs 300 robux, they are given the ability to change the color of their name and what font they want to use. Changing the color of the name affects the name itself, the text bubble, and typing bubble. Color 1 affects the main parts of the name, typing bubble, and text bubble. Color 2 affects the outline of the name, the gradient, the outline of the typing bubble, the hearts in the typing bubble, and the font color of the text bubble.

During the October 27th, 2020 and October 31st, 2020 updates, there were adjustments to the text bubbles when the player has the gamepass. All text bubbles for players chatting would change to whatever color and font the player was using, though it appears different on each screen.

Heels

Main article: Shoes

Heels, otherwise known as Shoes, are items that players can wear as extra customization. They can be worn on the feet or they change the entire lower half of the player, since they have custom legs. Some of the shoes with custom legs are from sets. Starting May 2019, all the new shoes are given the ability to be customized with patterns, either with the 24 free sparkly patterns or other patterns from the "Special Designs" gamepass. During the November 6th, 2019 update, callmehbob removed some of the old shoes (otherwise known as legacy heels) along with other items from the shop. A few shoes in game can also change forms through the toggle system.

Skirts

Main article: Skirts

Skirts are items that players can wear on their avatar. Most of the skirts can be bought with the currency of Royale High, which are diamonds, though a few skirts were free for some players. If the player bought the "Special Designs" gamepass, they were given the Midnight Mademoiselle skirt. Some of the skirts are parts of various sets. A few skirts in game can also change forms through the toggle system.

Mermaid Tails

Main article: Mermaid tails

Mermaid tails were an item that players can wear on their avatar. Once the player equipped it to their avatar, it would remove the current clothes on them. Removing the tail will have their avatar’s clothes return, though they can also equip clothes if they still have the tail on. Walking around, swimming, or flying will give off water splash particles.

During the November 6th, 2019 update, the mermaid tails along with other items were made unavailable. It is unknown when the mermaid tails will return, though the devs have said that they are getting reworked.

Accessories

Main article: Accessories

Accessories serve as extra customization to the player’s avatar. The first introduction of accessories was in September 2018, through the redemption of toy codes. Halloween 2018 accessories were the first accessories that players could purchase, through the conversion of Diamonds to Candies.

There are 9 categories of accessories for where they are placed on the avatar:

  • Halos
  • Hats/Tiaras/In Hair
  • Face
  • Ears/Earrings
  • Neck/Shoulders
  • Torso
  • Arms/Hands/Bags
  • Back/Capes/Tails
  • Legs/Feet

Seasonal accessories can also be found by sorting through seasons. There are 6 categories to pick and choose through under the Season section:

  • Valentines
  • Saint Patricks Day
  • Easter
  • Halloween
  • Christmas
  • New Years

Players can save their appearance in Royale High under the "Outfits" menu. When saving the outfit, players can choose if they want to put any two particle effects for transformation. They can also name their outfit and if they say the outfit name in Roblox chat, it will change the player’s avatar to the outfit under the name while playing the particle effects if any were chosen. Alternatively, players can go into the "Outfits" menu and simply click the "Wear" button to switch to the outfit.

Players can go to the outfit and also change the name, overwrite the current appearance, or delete it forever.

Trivia

  • There is a small chance that, when a skirt is recolored, any equipped heels may glitch. To correct this, take off the heels and re-equip them. The same can happen with the mermaid tails, where the legs can glitch through/the tail continuously moves even while not underwater. To fix this, re-equip the tail.
  • If the player says their outfit name in Roblox chat, there is a chance that it will glitch the hair color to be the hair color of the outfit before the one that was said.
