Thought I'd throw it here since I forgot to properly announce it previously; as of a few months ago, we no longer have a Discord. The server that used to be this wiki's Discord has been repurposed into a different topic. You can get an idea of why we did this from our last announcement. Just wanted to leave this mentioned somewhere.

Launcelot, co-owner of Royale High, said he'd improve back when he said and did some awful stuff back in February. A few other devs had their own share of things they did they also had to apologise for.

He promised he'd improve and educate himself on his racism and cultual insensitivity. He promised that after all the simple fixes to the game, there would be more fixes.

None of this happened. In fact, much the opposite.

I'm making this post because I think people here need to know what's going on and reconsider playing, because you do indirectly or directly end up financiallly supporting this behaviour from the devs to continue. It's very important to be informed on what's going on with RH.

!! The RH Wiki does not tolerate trying to excuse this behaviour !!

First off, read the post linked above that's from February (or click here). Virtually everything discussed in that post is still a problem. Some of it I can understand that it may not be ready yet, but with that serious of an issue, you'd expect some progress updates on it or acknowledgement that they're still on it - and yet, there are none.

In regards to not paying artists, they're still taking new unpaid submissions and have contacted no prior artist to pay them.

And... yep, still using stolen assets and IP.

Actually, Royale High developers have completely avoided these topics. That isn't the response you get from developers wanting to improve. If they cared, they'd at least share what's going on.

But anyways; a few weeks ago, Launce released a new Royale High "Code of Conduct". The main things you need to know about this is that it's essentially rules and expectations for anyone somewhat notable in the community. People who violate these rules - as in, outside of Roblox - can get banned from the game.

I agree with the concept of having safety policies for notable community members due to that there are people in the community who aren't good people, and even the concept of banning them from the game if they're an issue in the community is a great idea, but there's a problem: the way the code of conduct is worded, the devs could silence the community on anything that they don't like them talking about. And, well... that's exactly what happened.

A couple of days ago, Launce refused to take full accountability and consider precaution which led to children possibly being in danger through Twitter. Influencers called him out on not considering who he's replying to and how, and they were silenced using the Code of Conduct, so now they can't talk about it or imply anything is wrong.

Not going into detail since it involves triggering topics, nor will it be too detailed here or permitted for discussion; please don't namedrop or discuss too many details since it would violate Fandom policy.

This is how Royale High is treating YOU, the community.

This is why I am highly encouraging to just... please move on from this game and its devs. It hasn't updated in months, the big update it's hinging on has major signs of being an absolute disaster after the whole 'omg its out' bait goes over (hint hint: all effective farming methods will highly likely be gone!), and the devs are showing repeat signs of not caring to follow up on any of their apologies they make with the monthly racist comment or implication.

Within the realm of Fandom policy, there's a limit to what I can do here, but I can still make it very clear to everyone that the game you are playing, supporting, and making content with - is not run by good people. We do want to make sure you're aware.

And if you're afraid to quit because you've "put too much time in":

I get this is a common sentiment from younger players who aren't familiar with how service games work since they may be too young to have ever experienced one 'stopping' and don't understand. So here's a bit of advice:

Know that it is very normal that with a game you put time into, sometimes you just have to stop playing and move on. Sometimes because it straight up closes, but other times because you just cannot continue playing. Especially with Roblox, no game will be around forever.

Cherish what you did already, remember the good times, but recognise when a relationship is just toxic and is lying to you, and that you need to move on.

List of notes/disclaimers:

• This is NOT a hate post and there should be NO harassment or bothering made towards anyone regarding this, no matter what. This is an awareness post so that you know about what is currently happening with RH, encouraging that quitting the game is an option, and to address common things that people get stuck on when wanting to quit.

• Never go after anyone in the community for not speaking out about these problems - you do not know what situation they are in to where they may not be able to safely, and making assumptions about this causes more problems and helps nobody.

• From the other RH devs to community influencers, many do actually agree that these are all problems and they want to say something, but a completely understandable hold-up they have is that RH content is their livelihood and stopping it or speaking out all of a sudden could put them into an IRL financial situation that could be dangerous for them. Many show signs of gradual adjustment to try to make this a safer move at some point, or at least to quit on their own terms, but understand that for people who rely on the game to support themselves, they cannot just drop the game like we can.

• This isn't a call to ask RH for change. This is a post warning that we already tried asking for change, but change didn't happen and probably isn't going to ever happen; and that the best move in this toxic relationship many have with RH is to finally drop it and move on.

[August 30, 2022 update]

With RH's recent new Twitter account, its managers have made a response to some of the things this thread covers; some of it is quite indeed accurate and important such as clarifying some extremely serious false accusations made towards Launce. However, regarding things that were legitimate concerns with Launce, it's very dismissive. The Twitter account is also immediately blocking people who have called the developers out in the past, further silencing their community. Nothing has changed - they're still breaking promises

As for their charity set thing (tldr new set for robux but proceeds to charity) ... while I'm not going to make some assumption of legitimacy or intent since RH does have a good track record with charities before, if you can afford to buy it and want to support charity, you can donate to St. Jude directly and give them 30% more money than you could through RH, with the bonus of not having to touch RH (which will separately give them money due to Roblox MAU bonuses). And, y'know, you don't have to buy Robux first (you'd need to buy around $100 USD of Robux to get the whole thing RH is selling)

And regarding this, again, remember this is all very much in response to their recent criticisms (to distract from the issue). If you actually care about these issues brought up before, you shouldn't be joining one bit.

Feeding the troll - or in any way responding to the troll - is why these people stick around to keep bothering you, and keep coming back after we get to them. If you don't feed the troll, they stop coming back. Don't feed the troll.

If you see an account doing this stuff, do NOT in ANY WAY reply, acknowledge, or even mention the account is there. Pretend it and its replies don't exist. The most you should do is REPORT it. Leave the posts alone otherwise!

People who keep feeding the troll will be blocked for a few hours for hindering moderation by encouraging these spammers to come back.

Hi all. The intent of this post is to spread extremely important information from Royale High's community on Twitter for those that do not participate there. This is a long post, but it is very important information - please read!

**PLEASE ALSO READ REPLIES!** Additional EXTREMELY IMPORTANT info is discussed in there and it is really disgusting what happened in Launce's stream this evening. This is deplorable behaviour.

Royale High Wiki is an objective resource; our articles aim to be without bias, so we do not avoid documenting just because something is not good about RH. Our staff team, however, is very much against the ongoing exploitation and disrespect that Royale High has shown for a long time, and especially finds the recent incidents deplorable. We would like to share this so that our community is just as aware of what is going on.

If you can, share the information with others. It is highly important that Royale High, and especially Barbie (callmehbob), takes accountability for these extremely disrespectful and harmful things they have been encouraging and practicing for a long time, along with recent incidents.

The only way this will be heard is if people speak out and stop giving money and metrics to Royale High (i.e. stop playing for now), and the only way that will happen is if more people know about it.

Some context as to what started this - Performative activism

The Valentines 2022 event contains a small section dedicated to Black History Month (BHM). It mostly showcases images of the creations of black creators in the Royale High community. This stand area is an update to last year's, swapping out/adding to some of the artists, and including a NPC of imkatt, a black artist and activist in Royale High's community.

An important difference from the BHM area (and the Lunar New Year area) from last year is that Royale High contracted creators to help ensure accuracy and advise on ideas. For BHM, imkatt along with other black creators and activists in RH community were contracted.

A number of the Lunar New Year suggestions were added, but many of the BHM elements were not. In fact, a part 2 to the Black History Month section of the event was apparently planned... and subsequently cancelled, by Barbie.

imkatt and TechnoTatum (another contracted advisor) spoke out on Feb 19 about the incident surrounding this. This includes an element that makes a horrific notation of that the addition appears to have been performative activism - which is absolutely not okay for Royale High to do.

A lot of discussion ongoing based on this, including the lack of payment for the contractors, went on, and the current discussion on Twitter surrounds asking Barbie to take responsibility and accountability for disrespecting black voices and other POC (people of color), and using Royale High to profit off of them.

Artists are not being compensated

A separate issue was actually something I had brought up at the beginning of January, personally. You may know that Royale High takes submissions for faces, hair textures, etc. but are you aware that they profit from these? And while they make money from this work, the people who made it... don't?

Sadly, for years, Royale High has taken advantage of and exploited over 400 artists to submit free work that Royale High profits from. They see no payment, no compensation. Only exposure... and exposure doesn't pay the bills.

This has come up again with these recent Twitter revelations, partially due to that the BHM contractors were barely paid anything for their work (only a small amount of in-game currency), but also because it is yet another thing Barbie needs to take charge over.

Other games on Roblox that take submissions for assets, such as Mermaid Life, pay DevEx rate Robux amounts for them. And they also commission artists. Royale High does not. They simply take the submissions and do not give anything back directly. Only 2D clothing sees any pay, and indirectly so.

An important detail is that a large amount of these artists are MINORS - they often do not know better, that they think exposure will help. They don't even get exposure really, though. They need money, not exposure.

RH did actually used to tip artists back in 2018. Once more artists came around, they stopped. I hope I don't need to explain how backwards that is.

If RH can't afford or doesn't want to pay, they shouldn't be accepting these assets. Full stop.

Royale High is one of the top experiences on Roblox and makes thousands daily; they can afford to pay their artists. So why aren't they? Why are they instead just profiting from their free work? It's yet another thing Barbie needs to be held accountable for.

Other persistent issues in Royale High

This will be a quick list of other problems Royale High has not fixed as I don't want to make this thread too long;

- Offensive or misuse-able Sunset Island themes (only some examples) that should be removed:

• Egyptian: There is a lot of misinformation on "Egyptian fashion" and is culturally appropriating.

• Genderbend: Genderbending is transphobic because it is a form of transgender fetishization. It is also enbyphobic as it suggests a gender binary that can be swapped between, and conflicts with gender non-conforming individuals..

• Ugliest outfit ever: While mostly known for people misusing POC hairstyles and the hijab, generally it encourages discriminating against groups and looks in general and has no place.

• Southern Belle: The style encouraged by the theme is referencing a fashion style used by rich white people that owned slaves in US history.

- Names of certain black hair styles: Many black and POC hairstyles in RH use stereotypical names for black people and POC, instead of describing the hair like other hairstyles. They should be changed.

- Names of certain pride flag themed hair colours: Some of the original hair colour options themed around pride flags are offensive. They should be changed.

• The one for the pansexual flag can be interpreted as insisting pansexuality is made up.

• The one for the asexual flag can be interpreted as a reference to a stereotype for asexuals.

• One of the colours for the transgender flag has a variant name that is the same as a slur for transgender people, especially trans men.

- The Hijab is not programmed properly to prevent people wearing offensive clothing with it, or bangs. When wearing a hijab, it is inappropriate to show skin other than hands and face, and hair must not be visible. This should be fixed.

- DotD items should not be categorised under Halloween, and the Celebration Sombrero doesn't have a culturally accurate design and should be fixed.

- The pride flag display in Diamond Beach has all the flags upside down (vertically symmetrical flags are technically correct still), and uses an offensive flag for pansexuals (the orange, green, and yellow one). Turn them the right way and remove the offensive flag.

Taking advantage of minorities and young artists is extremely messed up

I think this doesn't need much explanation. Performative activism is disgusting and only adding a BHM section for the gold star of "we ran a BHM event and other games didn't" is a mess. Not paying hundreds of artists while you make money from their art shows extremely bad morals.

It has been years that Royale High has done this. It is time for Barbie to take responsibility and accountability for what she has encouraged. Change needs to happen.

I will note, that if Royale High fixes these things, does not mean Royale High would be better and okay to play. Royale High has shown for a long, long time what their true colours are - this is simply the community finally noticing. Some of us, including myself, used to have more contact with the leads, and we let them know of these problems in the past; they dismissed or brushed it off. Royale High knew there were issues. Barbie knew. They all did nothing. If they do something now, it's only because more than a small group of people told them to fix it, and it'll just be because they want you back to not lose out.

Don't be eager to come back if you boycott. This isn't a one day or one week thing. This persists until something is done for the better. And even so, perhaps it is time to move on from RH.

What can I do?

- Make others aware of this situation: This information is currently mainly localized on Twitter. It is important that more people hear about this so RH and Barbie are held accountable and that less people are inclined to play. Share the news to other platforms and communities for RH (please respect their rules!) and let your friends know.

- Do not play RH, or at least do not give them money: The biggest hit to RH to reduce their impact is to reduce incentive and metrics. Not playing is one less person on the player count, one less person generating money for them. If you must, don't give RH any money directly; don't buy any diamonds or passes.

- Try out & support alternative games: Many players continue on RH since there is no major alternative. However, there are smaller ones; help them grow and spread the word. Do note that our forums and community (along with our Discord) aren't exclusive to RH fans, and we are open to all discussion. Even if you quit RH, you're free to still participate and talk to our communities as long as you follow the rules. Most of our staff haven't actually played RH for a long time, or ever, even if we're here. So you don't have to necessarily quit the wiki if you quit the game.

Hi all, really quick post. We are now going to start removing advent item speculation posts as they are getting targeted with leaks (spoilers) and we don’t want to see any users spoiled. Sorry for the inconvenience, but people use them as an invitation to post leaks (even though they clearly aren’t)/they are targeted with leaks, so this has to be done for safety.

As for leaks themselves, since they promote and are gained through exploiting, you will be immediately banned for posting them or referring where to find them, and possibly for asking where they are. Please stay respectful of the devs and others. (Note that this is not a new policy and has already been in the rules)

If you happen to already have been spoiled, that is not an excuse to spoil others, so please keep it to yourself. And do report any leaks or insistence of leaks you see. Thanks.

Hey guys, around now there's a rumor going around that you shouldn't play RH right now because you'll get banned for a really long time just for joining. This is obviously false on its own but has some merit that's been lost through the messages - there are people getting banned right now, but for actual reasons.

(we will be removing threads regarding bans/these incidents/rumors as usual)

Generally, you will NOT be banned if you did not:

• Exploit ("hack"), at any point, for any amount of time, particularly to do anything you shouldn't

• Use any anti-AFK measures, such as macros or autoclickers

• Make any trades that are against RH's rules (e.g. trading the new halo between an alt to your main because you've been running it on alts for more chances)

If you didn't do any of these, and you wanted to keep playing, just play! The chance you will get banned if you didn't break the rules is negligible, so don't worry.

Just...maybe avoid trading for now. There is an actual oversight in Royale High's moderation system that could get you banned from the game (or at least from trading) for trading, and you should really be careful about trading with anyone you aren't 100% sure ISN'T trading exploited items for the time being. As you could be breaking RH's rules without knowing you did, and you might be made at fault of it in the eyes of their moderation system.

Because right now, if the system catches an exploiter, you could (not always) get banned for trading with that exploiter, even though unless they're blatantly obvious about it, there is NO way to tell they're an exploiter. (All the rumors about signs like "their items don't animate" are false - that's not how exploiting works)

So for the time being, until RH fixes their moderation system, maybe be careful about trading. Such as only exchanging items with friends you played with that you knew got the items legit, and didn't get them from trading either.

No, we can't advise on if this will get fixed... especially as they don't like saying anything about or responding to reports about their system.

If you DO happen to get banned incorrectly (and you are sure it's wrong),

you can use Royale High's official support email: support@royalehigh.com

Provide the username of the account affected and address the ban in question. Do note that logically just saying "I didn't do it" isn't how to appeal - you're asking for general info on how they detected it and why they're sure you did that thing, because you don't believe you did anything that's against the rules/did not break the rule the ban mentioned. The intent is to work out that their system must have made a mistake. Please remember to be patient and friendly, and don't make any accusations.
